Alex Jones and Roman Kemp took the helm of Thursday's The One Show, welcoming guests such as documentary-maker Stacey Dooley and actress Celia Imrie.

The 37 year old Strictly Come Dancing champion delved into her new challenge in the West End, where she stars as Jenny in the revival of '2:22 A Ghost Story'.

During the show, Roman probed Stacey about her character's intense experiences, to which she responded that her role depicted a woman "on the edge of an existential crisis".

"She's just had a baby," Stacey detailed. "The baby is still on the boob. She's knackered. It's all going on."

Stacey went on to say: "I thought you know what? If I can try anything, I can try this..." This comes after Stacey celebrated the arrival of her first child, daughter Minnie, with partner Kevin Clifton last year, reports the Express.

However, the interview was cut short when Roman realised the time pressure, informing Stacey: "In fact, we can't keep you long. I'm being told now, you're on stage in about 40 minutes... and your bike. You've got a motorbike taking you there."

To which Stacey laughed: "How showbiz is this Roman?" Roman then gestured towards a motorbike helmet, saying: "We need to get this on you."

As Stacey made a swift exit from the set, Roman encouraged her with shouts of "Go, go, go," while Alex wished her luck with a heartfelt "break a leg."

Fans flooded social media with reactions to the popular show, as @MaisyMooCow expressed on Twitter: "Great sofa there on the #Theoneshow with Stacey Dooley and Celia. Stacey is so lovely the way she included Celia in her interview and not just addressing the presenters like most do. So grounded and down to earth."

@Rosie commented: "#TheOneShow aww love stacey Dooley."

Similarly, @JJ chipped in: "Love Stacey."
