BBC Saturday Kitchen viewers 'not impressed' and warn they are 'boycotting'

BBC Saturday Kitchen viewers have said they are "not impressed" and tuned out amid a row over Matt Tebbutt's replacement. TV host and chef Donal Skehan took over presenting in Matt's absence and was joined in the studio by Olly Smith, Sabrina Ghayour, Jack Stein and Eddie Izzard.

Donal introduced the latest live BBC episode of the cooking themed talk show and welcomed the celebrity guests. But taking to Twitter/X, fans were less than blown away by the TV star's presenting, with one writing: "If @matt_tebbutt is replaced for good, I'm boycotting this show. #SaturdayKitchen"

"I'm not impressed with Donal. It seems Eddie is not impressed with him too. Sabrina the cook is giving us a cooking lesson. Donal wants her to stop talking. Jack Stein is crafty received a nice cheque for just making a basic salad," another said.

"Friggin hell donal can't get a word in #SaturdayKitchen," another said. Another said: "Donal……breathe. My ears are bleeding #saturdaykitchen" Another said: "Where's insufferable Matt today, is he too hungover and still in bed? He only has one job once a week, middle class problems eh"

"Everyone needs to put BBC1 on now. This woman has invented this bread, salad and chicken thing. This is going to change the world. I'm telling you!! #saturdaykitchen," another commented. The episode synopsis on RadioTimes made no mention of Matt's absence.

Instead, it said: "Matt Tebbutt is joined by chefs Jack Stein and Sabrina Ghayour, and special guest Eddie Izzard. Olly Smith picks the drinks to go with the studio dishes." Taking to social media, another spoke out as Dave Myers and Si King appeared in a VT.

Discussing the late Dave, they typed: "So lovely to see a video of Dave Myers of #HairyBikers fame on #SaturdayKitchen. Sadly missed. Would love to see Si King get his own show - how about him exploring the UK on a motorbike-sidecar combo, with a different celeb' passenger each week, cooking local dishes?

"I'd watch!"
