Yahoo News BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara says 'so this happened' after struggle with daughter
Janette Manrara is not shy in sharing the realities of being a parent with her fans and followers as she documented what she hoped wouldn't be a long-term struggle with her daughter. The dancer and presenter welcomed her first child with her husband Aljaz Skorjanec last summer.
The couple are now preparing to celebrate their daughter Lyra Rose's first birthday next month (July) after celebrating with an early birthday party while in America earlier this month. Janette ditched the UK, where she resides in Cheshire, for the USA earlier this month alongside Aljaz and Lyra Rose for their first long-haul trip to visit Janette's family in Miami.
Janette, 40, shared updates from across the pond, including taking Lyra to meet Mickey Mouse for the first time with adorable results and spending time in the iconic parks with her parents and siblings. The Strictly Come Dancing later told how they'd pulled themselves away from DisneyWorld and celebrated Lyra's birthday early with her own mermaid-themed bash.

She shared an adorable picture of the tot in front of a table set up ready for a spread, as well as a huge banner that read 'Happy Birthday' with mermaid decorations and an array of silver, pink and green metallic balloons as well as a picture of her and Aljaz with Lyra soaking it all up.
Alongside the string of photos, the mum-of-one said: "Our itty bitty pretty one is turning one soon, so we threw her an early birthday celebration while in Miami #earlybirthday #mermaidtheme #turningonesoon."
But since returning home, Janette and Aljaz haven't had the easiest of rides. Last week, Janette was left saying 'sorry' to her fans for her lack of updates after previously sharing why she'd been 'MIA' from social media, having been struck down with a cold, as did her little girl, while Lyra also battled some jet lag.
She has since taken to her Instagram Story with footage from a nannycam which showed the baby struggling to get to sleep. In the clip, Janette could be seen crawling into the youngster's cot and falling asleep while Lyra seemingly continued to play.
Reflecting on the troubled night’s sleep, the Strictly It Takes Two host captioned the post: “So this happened last night. Just when you think you’ve cracked the sleep code, she decides to have a 4 am party." Janette added: "I crawled in because I’m nervous of her being on our bed and falling off. Hoping to have a better night tonight."
