BBC Waterloo Road's Chlo Charles gives birth to first child and shares unique name

One of the original stars of Waterloo Road has given birth to her first child and shared his adorable, unique name.

Katie Griffiths, 35, starred as Chlo Charles in the BBC One series from 2006 to 2009, and was known for her on-screen relationship with Donte Charles, played by Adam Thomas. The actress then reprised her role in the reboot of the BBC drama series set at a troubled school in Rochdale, but was sadly killed off in the first episode.

She left behind her screen husband and their two young children, played by Adam's son and niece, daughter of former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas and Tina O'Brien. Now, the new mum who was first on screens when she was just 17 has welcomed her own baby into the world. Katie announced the joyous news on Instagram as she showed off the first picture of her baby boy, who she has named Cassius.

Sharing the news with her 32.9k followers, the actress said: "Welcome to the world Cassius. After 10 months of waiting, we’re so happy to finally meet you."

She then admitted: "I’ve been quite unsure if I would post photos of him on my Instagram so this may well be one of the only ones but after 10 months of sharing pregnancy photos it seemed only fair to post the result."

Katie also shared a gorgeous picture of herself holding her newborn in a sunny garden. Commenting on the photo, fellow Waterloo Road actress and former Corrie star Rachel Leskovac wrote: "Ah Katy - what a beautiful baby you’ve made - massive congratulations to you and your partner and welcome to the world Cassius."

On Monday (July 1), Katie then shared a tribute to her husband Matthew Wardle on their first wedding anniversary. Sharing a snap from their special day showing them walking down a set of stairs, the caption read: "Can't believe this was one year ago! Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary @mpswardle."

Katie looked stunning as she held the trail of her bridal gown in the arms whilst her husband who donned a blue suit held her flowers.
