BBC weather forecaster says when UK 'super heatwave' will 'finally' hit

A BBC weather forecaster has confirmed when UK temperatures will rocket - ahead of a UK "super-heatwave" or "mega-heatwave". BBC weather star Elizabeth Rizzini explained that temperatures "should rise again on Sunday of course in any sunshine".

She said: "There will be some sunny spells around between those showers when it will pleasantly warm." Exacta Weather's James Madden said: "The current GFS run and three previous runs are all still keen on high pressure rises, bringing a number of warm to potentially hot days to our shores later next week!

"Hopefully, some slight improvements will follow in overall intensity and duration too." He added: "Some warm to hot days are still on the cards for June before a significant and on-cue pattern change for July!

"The current signals are still good from the GFS for a major build of high pressure during next week, which would bring a significant warm up across our shores and some potentially warm to hot temperatures over a number of days at the very least (another post to follow showing this in 4 concurrent GFS runs now).

"Unfortunately, we do still have some cooler and more unsettled weather to contend with prior to these potential changes occurring during the next week and as covered within our long-range forecasts for June, as I will explain and sufficiently prove.

"The start of the June warm spell was not as hot as expected, with top temperatures only topping out at a warm 24 °C instead of something in the high 20s, and it was also pretty brief in duration overall. However, it still actually occurred, and our 6-7 week in advance forecast also covered a "decent" and potentially "warm" start to June and remained confidently and correctly unchanged, despite unsettled and cool projections from elsewhere in only the days before the first few days of summer actually began for real."

"The good news going forward and into July is that things are looking pretty amazing for this month as a whole, with the now very high possibility of some kind of super or mega heatwave of a decent duration, with maximum temperatures possibly peaking in and around the mid to high 30s (also the reason why many others have tried to make me appear wrong for this month, I feel)," he added.
