Isa Guha is fronting the BBC's Wimbledon coverage for a third year, but sports fans may know her more for her work on the cricket field than the tennis court.

While Guha has cultivated a career as a successful broadcaster, she built a reputation as one of the finest cricketers in the women's game before picking up the microphone.

Guha, 39, is a former professional cricketer for England, having made her debut for her country back in 2002, then aged just 17. She became the first woman of south Asian heritage to play for England. She was subsequently awarded the BBC Asian Sports Personality of the Year award in 2002.

Her career on the field brought huge success to England. The former right-arm fast-medium bowler won the World Cup and the Ashes for England, while in December 2008 she was ranked as the number one bowler in the ICC Women's One Day International rankings.

After a storied career, during which she played for Berkshire at domestic level, she announced her retirement in 2012, having played 83 ODIs, 22 Twenty20 internationals and eight Tests.

At the time of her retirement from international cricket, Guha was the second-highest England wicket-taker in ODI history – and sixth overall in the world.

Her broadcasting ability was not allowed to slip through the net, however, and she was picked up by the world-renowned BBC Test Match Special.

She soon became global, however, when ITV got her on board in 2012 to cover the world's pre-eminent T20 franchise competition, the Indian Premier League. Since then she has gone from strength to strength. She is seen on Australian television fronting the Big Bash coverage as well as Test cricket, while she is a regular in the UK for Sky Sports' coverage of cricket.

Guha's presenting ability has now seen her switch over into tennis. She joined the BBC's team in 2022, presenting in the afternoon slot, before the legendary Sue Barker retired that summer. Clare Balding last year took over the afternoon slot, with Guha now often seen anchoring the coverage in the mornings.

Away from sport, Guha is married to musician Richard Thomas, of the band Brothers and Bones. The pair had been together for a long time before they eventually tied the knot in September 2018.

Guha, whose parents emigrated to the UK from Calcutta, India, in the 1970s, was born in High Wycombe. According to the Times of India, she is said to be worth $1.5m (£1.18m). The former cricket star has 192,000 Instagram followers and 282,000 on X.
