Beauty giant Sephora to open second North East store in Gateshead's Metrocentre

The Metrocentre has announced that beauty giant Sephora is set to open a store in the Gateshead shopping centre, with the news delighting shoppers.

The new addition was confirmed on Friday, June 14, with the Metrocentre branding it the "world's worst kept secret" on its social media pages. While an exact opening date is yet to be set, the shopping hub teased that the store is "coming soon" to the Lower Platinum Mall in autumn, where it will join the upcoming new Newcastle city centre branch as one of just two Sephora branches in the North East.

The arrival of the skincare, makeup, haircare and fragrance giant to the region was announced in March, with Sephora set to open a new 6,600sqft store in Eldon Square this autumn - only the fourth shop in the UK along with two branches in London and one in Manchester. And news of the Metrocentre addition was met with a great deal of excitement from beauty fans.

"My money is GONE," one person joked on Facebook, while others said they were "over the moon" and would "never leave" the store once it opened its doors. "We NEED a Metrocentre shopping trip when this opens," someone else insisted.

The Metrocentre has also listed a number of job vacancies at Sephora ahead of the arrival of new store, including fragrance, skincare and makeup supervisors, beauty advisors, and brow and beauty experts, with closing dates at the start of August.
