TK Maxx and Homesense recall selected Kintra teas that may 'contain insects'

Batches of a premium tea brand are being recalled because some of the products have been "found to contain insects".

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) say retailers TK Maxx and Homesense are recalling selected batches of Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas.

"Insects may be present in these products, which makes them unsafe to consume," according to the watchdog.

The three varieties being recalled are Calm & Relax, Chamomile, and Sleepy. They were on sale in the stores between April and June this year.

The FSA has urged people who have bought the products to "not consume them" and instead "return them to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund".

"Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products."

Batch codes have also been released to help shoppers identify the products. These are:

• Calm & Relax 60g - 6057, 6071, 6118, 6126, and 6207.

• Chamomile 40g - 5887 and 6111.

• Sleepy 40g - 6058, 6102, and 6125.

The retailers also called on consumers to stop using the products "immediately" due to the "food safety risk" and return them to the store of purchase.

It comes days after three food companies started recalling products involving sandwiches, wraps and salads from a number of retailers over fears they could make people sick with E.coli.
