Bella Hadid makes a case for the ‘shoulder pop’

With no sign of an Indian summer ahead, Bella Hadid demonstrated a fresh way to ease yourself back into a cold-busting coat on Instagram after the Tommy Hilfiger show in London this week.

The model, who took a star turn in the runaway modelling her sister's third Tommy x Gigi capsule collection, is known for her statement-making style and rather than wearing her on-trend check coat properly, it was artfully askew showing off a single bare shoulder.

Whether the coat accidently slipped down or Hadid did it on purpose, she pulled it off thanks to the sleeveless, high neck black mini dress she wore underneath, tonal thigh-high boots and her go-to accessory right now: a bum bag slung over the other shoulder. We're calling this the 'shoulder pop', the latest incarnation of the 'shrobing' trend.

It was Balenciaga's AW16 collection that sparked it - necklines being pulled and cut off-the-shoulder and since then, coats have been worn as capes, nonchalantly shrugged on and left elbow high and trailing behind. Kim Kardashian West was particularly prolific.

What sets Hadid's 'shoulder pop' apart, however, is that she still has full use of her arms, eliminating any annoying impracticality bar a slightly longer sleeve, and just enough shoulder exposure to make an impact but keep warm.
