A popular car boot in the Ribble Valley is returning just months after being forced to close by the cost of living crisis.

In January, Clitheroe Car Boot and Market has said the establishment is to shut its doors after being no longer "financially viable." With other contributing factors and struggle with customer numbers, organisers announced the news to the disappointment of many customers.

After being taken over by new management, the car boot sales are expected to return 'later this month'. They will once again be hosted at the Auction Mart on Lincoln Way.

Car boot sales will begin on April 28 and will run every Sunday from then on, organisers say. Half of the site will be indoors. Parking is free and the admission fee has been halved to just 50p per person

There will be no entry fee for the first two weeks of the event's return. Stallholders can book online in advance or just turn up on the day from 7am, with buyers welcome from 8am.

A spokesperson for new management said: "The car boot sale at Clitheroe Auction Mart has always been a huge success and a family favourite for weekend days out since it opened all the way back in the late 1980s, originally under the management of Hoyles Promotions, it is now being taken over by Blackpool based entrepreneur Richard Eccles.

"Now more than ever people should be supporting car boot sales and flea markets, the best form of recycling is to sell goods on second hand rather than throwing them away, and Clitheroe Car Boot Sale is the perfect place just for that."

Clitheroe Auction Mart confirmed the car boot would be returning.
