“Below Deck”’s Colin MacRae Says 'I Feel for' Gary King amid Sexual Assault Allegation but Can’t Comment Further

Colin MacRae can’t say for sure what happened between Gary King and a Below Deck Sailing Yacht production team member.

While attending the Below Deck panel at BravoCon 2023 on Sunday morning, MacRae, 34, addressed a fan question about King’s absence from the convention. This comes after King, 34, was removed from the BravoCon lineup following a sexual misconduct allegation from one of the show’s crew members, per an expose written by Rolling Stone in August.

“I had a chat with him after that all came out,” MacRae told the fan. “I think he’s going through a really tough thing. I don’t think that’s a nice thing to go through for anyone.”

In terms of if MacRae thinks there was anything salacious happening off-screen, he declined to hypothesize: “I don’t think anyone can really comment on it unless they were there. There were two people in that room, and they were the only people that know what went down. So, yeah, I feel for him.”

In the article, Samantha Suarez, a production team member on season 4, alleged King tried to make sexual advances on her without her consent. Emails sent to the publication alleged Suarez reported the incident to Bravo producers and HR representatives for the show’s production company.

Bravo then issued a statement that read: “Bravo is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for cast and crew on our reality shows. We require our third-party production companies to have appropriate workplace policies and trainings in place and a clear process on how to report concerns. The concerns Ms. Suarez raised in July 2022 were investigated at that time and action was taken based on the findings.”

King’s former on-screen love interest, Daisy Kelliher, also declined to speak on the allegations in conversation with PEOPLE at BravoCon. “Honestly for me, I’m keeping out of it,” she said. “It’s nothing to do with me, I wasn’t there and I think it’s best for me to keep my perspective out of it and my opinion for something I really shouldn’t be involved in.”

Earlier this week, King indirectly denied the allegations on Instagram. He included hashtags that said “I was cancelled [sic] because of a lie” and “I would never do that.”

“It’s sad that people will do anything in their power to bring you down. It’s not about how you fall but how you get up,” King captioned a photo of himself laying in a field of flowers. “Luckily for me the fall was into a sea of daisies.” Other hashtags included: “#anythingforaplatform #dontbelieveeverythingyousee #bullshitmedia #ivegotmyheadheldhigh #flowers #wakeupandsmelltheroses #worldisanuglyplace #belowdeck #belowdecksailing #onwardsandupwards.”
