Ben Mitchell's plot to kill Billy in Thursday's EastEnders episode (May 23) had unintended consequences for another Mitchell family member.

Earlier this week, evil Ben (Max Bowden) stooped lower than ever when he hired a hitman to kill his relative Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) after Billy learned of his plot to bankrupt Phil (Steve McFadden).

Ben put the hitman onto Billy's trail in Thursday's instalment when he overheard his dad sending him on a small job in Southend, unaware that Billy would also be bringing young son Will (Freddie Phillips) with him.

When a panicked Ben finally heard from Lola (Danielle Harold) that the boy would be accompanying his dad, he rushed to stop the chain of events before his hired gun could carry out his deadly assignment.

Ben arrived just as the hitman sped towards Billy and Will outside the train station. As he shouted to warn them, Billy shoved Will and himself out of the way while the hitman sped by without whacking with either of them.

While both Billy and Will escaped with their lives, Will had been injured and was carted off to hospital in an ambulance. A concerned Lola, Honey and Adam soon arrived on scene - as the police approached Ben.

"You called the ambulance?" the police officer asked a gravely concerned Ben. "Can we ask you a few questions?"

Fear washed over Ben's face as Thursday's episode came to a close. Find out what happens tomorrow night...
