Benfica vs Bayern Munich
Uefa Champions League 2018/19
Venue: Estadio da Luz
Date: Wednesday, 19 September
Kick-off time: 8pm BST

Bayern Munich's Champions League campaign gets underway with a Group E trip to Benfica on matchday one.

Benfica lead the Portuguese Primeira Liga on goal difference after picking up 10 points for their opening four games, while Bayern are also (predictably) top of the Bundesliga with a perfect record so far.

Bayern last won the Champions League in 2013, but have failed to capitalise on their domestic dominance with a string of near misses in recent years, with four semi-final exits in the last five seasons.

The last time the two sides met - in the 2015-16 Champions League quarter-finals - Bayern won the first leg 1-0 at home and progressed 3-2 on aggregate after a 2-2 away draw.
