Benidorm's Tim Healy and co-stars to return to spill 'secrets' of hit ITV show

As fans still long for the show to make a return to screens, Tim Healy and some of his Benidorm co-stars are reuniting on stage to 'spill secrets' from the much loved comedy.

It might seem hard to believe, but it was 17 years ago that ITV viewers were first welcomed into the Solana hotel, as the programme was filmed on location in sunny Spain and Benidorm's very real Sol Pelicanos resort. Tim, already an established TV icon thanks to his role in Auf Wiedersehen Pet, became an instant favourite with fans as cross dressing receptionist Lesley, the first face many guests saw as they checked into into their luxury but often chaotic surroundings.

As well as being at a lot of the high jinks that went on at the Solana, Lesley's bond with son Liam also provided Benidorm with some very funny but also unexpectedly touching moments, as the pair navigated their relationship.

Having originally joined the cast as a guest star, Tim ended up being full time as Lesley from series four, staying on the show until series 9, when he fell ill during filming and ended up being written out of the show.

Benidorm came to an end on ITV in 2018 and after spawning a touring musical, which has its premiere in Newcastle, is now the focus of an 'audience with' style show starring Tim, alongside fellow Solana icons Sherrie Hewson and Crissy Rock. While there are currently no plans for the production, 'Tales from the Solana and Beyond' to come to Tim's native Tyneside, it will be on at the Barbican in York on June 5, Reading's Hexagon Theatre on June 11 and The Albany Theatre in Coventry on June 24.
