Stars including Oprah Winfrey, Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman and Lady Gaga took to the red carpet this weekend at Hollywood's annual Governors Awards.

The awards – otherwise known as the honorary Oscars – are now in their 10th year.

The event was scaled back this year, a decision made by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences due to the wildfires currently affecting much of California.

“In light of the tragic wildfires burning through California, we have decided to scale back our red carpet at the Governors Awards this year, making it exclusively photos only,” they announced before the ceremony. “The dinner and ceremony will continue in order to honor the achievements of these artists and filmmakers that are so deserving. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for your coverage planning and hope to see you at the next Academy event."

A Star is Born actor Sam Elliott even attended the awards shortly after tending to his own Malibu home, affected by the wildfires – something he described as "surreal".

Winners included Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, the first woman to receive the prestigious Irving G. Thalberg Memorial award, and 93 year old producer Cicely Tyson.
