As the heatwave continues, many people in Essex are on the hunt for the perfect cooling treat. Ice creams are often the way to go, with hundreds of parlours in the county.

Whether you prefer classic vanilla, rich chocolate, or adventurous flavours like banoffee and bubblegum, Essex has a variety of ice cream spots to satisfy every craving. And in all corners of the county, there is a place for anyone in the county.

Fifties-style ice cream and waffle bar Pop-Pins on Connaught Avenue in Frinton-on-Sea has made the list. Muddy Stilettos say that the quaint cafe has got 'Grease vibes' and is just a short stroll from the seafront.

Of course, Rossi ice cream is a staple for people visiting Southend seafront. The ice cream shop has parlours that date to the Thirties. It also has a selection of slushes and is right near to the longest pleasure pier in the world - Southend Pier.

Plant-based, dairy-free, vegan and sustainable ice cream, Poco in Leigh-on-Sea has a range of experimental flavours, like mocha, burnt caramel and clementine sorbet, enjoyed in a cone or tub. There are cakes and waffles as well if you want to increase the sugar rush.

Sprinkles in Basildon has so many different ice creams it’s impossible to list them all, but our favourites include blue banana and Paw Patrol (cotton candy).
