Best Twitter 'feud' ever as zoos bid to out-cute each other

With daily doom and gloom clogging our newsfeeds, what we all really need right now is a cute animal tweet-off.

Luckily, that’s exactly what we’ve got.

Zoos and aquariums across the globe have been attempting to out-cute each other with some of the most adorable images the internet has ever seen.

It started in the U.S., when Smithsonian’s National Zoo kicked things off with this pic of a beautiful baby seal.

When Virginia Aquarium was alerted to the image, they knew they had to pull out all the stops to compete.

Cue this very special snap of an otter and an osprey looking pleased to see each other.

As word spread, other zoos got involved, and they started using the apt hashtag #CuteAnimalTweetOff.

Tiny tigers playing, anyone?

Things swiftly went global, with this lovely red panda from Colchester Zoo representing for the UK.

It’s almost impossible to pick a favourite with such a high standard of cute on offer. This amazing lion cub may well have the edge, however…
