According to the AA, Harrogate, a town far removed from the UK's picturesque coastlines, has been named the best place for a staycation. The AA's experts assessed destinations based on local happiness ratings, the availability of car parking spaces, petrol stations, and EV chargers, as well as the number of activities and accommodation options.

Known for its high happiness rating of 7.8 out of 10 among locals, the town promises a joyful and welcoming atmosphere for tourists. Moreover, Harrogate offers a plethora of amenities for modern travellers, including an abundance of EV charging points and petrol stations, ensuring convenience for those travelling by car. One of Harrogate's standout features is its renowned wellness resorts.

The town has a rich history as a spa destination, making it the perfect place for visitors to indulge in luxurious treatments. The Acorn Wellness Retreat offers yoga classes and a range of treatments including facials, massages and crystal healing, reports the Mirror.

Alternatively, the DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel and Spa is another option within the town. Established in 1889, this hotel is set amidst eight acres of landscaped gardens and boasts a spa with six beauty treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, and indoor pool.
