Beverley Knight forced to hire a bodyguard

Beverley Knight might want to choose a more light-hearted role next time she stars in a west end musical.

In a chilling parallel to the plot of The Bodyguard, the 42-year old singer has been forced to hire some muscle of her own after her car was set alight outside her home. She’s also decided to move into a West End hotel until things die down a little.

“Beverley is really upset by the ordeal and her management has taken her away from the situation,” a source told The Sun. “Her safety is absolutely paramount, so she’s been booked into the hotel and given her own bodyguard.

“Her trauma echoes what her character goes through. It’s life imitating art,” they added.

In case you managed to miss the 1992 movie, Beverley’s character Rachel, famously played by Whitney Houston, is stalked, threatened and almost killed by a bomb place in her dressing room. The sinister shenanigans prompt her to employ a bodyguard called Frank.

You can guess what happens next.

As if all these coincidences weren’t enough, poor old Beverley has also been pursued by a stalker in the past, just like the character in the film. “It made my life hell,” she said at the time. “He believed that we were going to have a future together.”

However, the damage to the Beverley’s car was apparently so bad that police have been unable to determine if it was started on purpose. As a result they’ve now decided to close the case.

“We were called to reports of a car on fire and investigated to see if it was a result of arson. There’s no evidence to suggest it was started deliberately,” they said in a statement.
