"He's in episode three, and we were sat having lunch together one day and I said: 'You know when we met when we were 15, did you ever imagine that we would both be here filming a BBC primetime series together?' That was really special for me."

The actor added that there were some "real pedigree people" appearing in series 2, with Felicity Montagu, who plays Support Officer Margo Martins, adding: "You get the opportunity to work with people in your life and then you're not sure, as an actor, if you're ever gonna work with them again. And when that opportunity comes back around and you get to explore it even further, the dynamic, the playfulness it's such a privilege."

Beyond Paradise premieres on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Friday, 22 March.
