Beyond Paradise's Peter Davison has shared heartfelt words about his co-star following a poignant departure from the BBC drama. In the series, Davison's character was introduced as a romantic prospect for Anne Lloyd, portrayed by Barbara Flynn.

Episode four saw Anne devastated upon discovering that her new beau, Richard Baxter (played by Davison), was already married. The dramatic conclusion of the episode had Richard desperately trying to explain himself to Anne, imploring her with the words: "Let me explain."

Davison has talked about the possibility of him returning to show as the full cast list for next week's episode on Friday, April 19 has been published. And it doesn't show Davison on the list, hinting he won't be back soon.

Davison expressed his admiration for Flynn and hinted at potential ways his character could re-enter the narrative of Beyond Paradise. Discussing the possibility of Richard Baxter's return to the show, Peter remarked: "That is not sadly up to me but Barbara and I were about ways in which we can get me back into the series. I think that one of the last things he says to her is, 'Let me explain'.", reports the Express.

He continued, reflecting on his character's situation: "I said, 'Yeah give me a chance to explain, come on, have me back so I can explain what was going on'. So you know on the face of it, he's just taking advantage or rather I don't know how much he's taking advantage. He's selling them this story so that he can you know, have lovely dinners and have these dates with Barbara or maybe there are other women as well.

"What his intentions are beyond that, it's certainly not clear. There's no way in which he seems to be trying to get money out of them or anything like that. So I think maybe he deserves a chance to explain what he meant."

"Well, Barbara and I did sit there looking at ways in which we thought of getting the story to continue and that he would end up in jail. And then Barbara could go and visit him and have that romance that some women do with people in prison.

"Of course, the main thing about Death in Paradise is it's filmed in the Caribbean. And Kris was heavily involved in that and as you said, it was the second show. I didn't have a scene with Kris in this episode. I saw him many times in the green room and when we were waiting to do scenes, but sadly, I had no scenes with him."

"So it didn't seem like it was the same character but it didn't seem like the same show. And Sally Bretton is in it and Barbara obviously, and [Beyond Paradise] is in this lovely part of England. It's a lovely show to do...it's lovely to film down there, and I was sorry I wasn't in a bit more of it, to be honest with you."
