Biker Faces No Action Over Wife's Dubai Death

A former Superbike racer arrested on suspicion of the murder of his newly-wed wife in Dubai has been told he faces no further action.

Sean Emmett had been on police bail for more than two years in connection with the death of Abigail Emmett, nee Elson, who fell several floors from a high-rise hotel.

He was arrested and questioned by officers back in December 2013 on his arrival at Heathrow Airport from Dubai, where his wife had died in February of that year.

He had been unable to leave the country following her death as officials in the United Arab Emirates withheld his passport until their investigation was concluded.

Surrey Police have now confirmed after 26 months no further action will be taken against the 45-year-old following its "lengthy and extensive investigation".

Detective Inspector Antony Archibald said: "This has been a challenging and complex investigation where we have had to liaise with a number of different agencies, including the authorities in Dubai.

"This process has taken a considerable period of time but it is vital that we explore all lines of inquiry as part of our efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. This will remain a live investigation and our inquiries will continue.

"We have liaised with the Elson family throughout our investigation and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time. We will continue to provide appropriate support and updates for Abigail's family going forward."
