A BIKER has been rushed to hospital after a crash with a van on the A127 in south Essex.

Ambulances and fire engines were on the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and van on the A127 London-bound near Rayleigh Weir during the morning rush hour.

Fire engines blocked off part of the major road while emergency services worked at the scene.

A biker was seen being treated by paramedics. The ambulance service has now confirmed the motorcyclist, an adult man, was taken to Southend Hospital following the crash.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called just 8.15am to a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a van on the westbound A127 near Thundersley.

"An ambulance and ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene.

"The motorcyclist, an adult man, was transported to Southend University Hospital for further assessment and treatment."

Essex Fire Service was contacted for comment.
