The New England Patriots are going through training camp, and the major story has been the preparation of Jimmy Garoppolo, the Patriots' backup quarterback.

While Tom Brady is going through training camp, he'll begin his regular season by serving a four-game suspension for the Deflategate scandal, meaning Garoppolo will be the starter.

The NFL world is high on the 24-year-old Garoppolo, and given his youth, compared with the 38-year-old Brady, some have suggested he could maintain the starting job, even when Brady returns in Week 5.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick has done his best to quell this idea. He opened training camp by saying Brady would be the starter when he returns. On Friday, when pressed further about the idea that Brady could be replaced by Garoppolo, Belichick gave as firm of a guarantee as he could that Brady would be the starter. Belichick is pressed about the QBs. “What if Jimmy plays great?”

“I told you what’s gonna happen.”

“There’s no chance...?”

“Jesus Christ”

Well, that settles that.

Here's video of Belichick answering the question:

Garoppolo, who played football in college at Eastern Illinois, hasn't played a meaningful snap in his two-year NFL career. He has a lot to learn to keep the Patriots afloat while Brady is out. But even if he plays well, it doesn't sound as if he has any shot at replacing Brady.

Sorry, Jimmy.
