As per TV Line, the seventh and final season will premiere on Paramount+ on August 11, followed by its terrestrial airing on Showtime two days later.

The synopsis for the season reads: “Alliances are turned on their heads [and] old wounds are weaponised. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.”

Following Axe’s exit in the finale of the fifth season, co-creator Brian Koppelman paid tribute to Lewis, saying: “The guy delivered for us in such an incredible way. What he did in making Bobby Axelrod an icon is really remarkable. We feel really honoured and lucky to have had five years of being able to know that Damian Lewis was Bobby Axelrod.”

Chris McCarthy, the president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, welcomed the news in a statement, saying: “Billions has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of [co-showrunners] Brian [Koppelman] and David [Levien].

Showtime are reportedly developing a collection of spin-offs to Billions, with Millions set to focus on thirtysomethings in Manhattan and Trillions depicting “fictional stories about the richest people in the world.” There are also proposed spin-offs based in Miami and London, though they are currently untitled.

Billions season 7 will premiere on Paramount+ on August 11.
