Birmingham City linked to transfer for Championship forward with 'excellent attributes'

Ryan Longman is the latest name being linked with a summer switch to Birmingham City.

The Mirror say Blues are among three interested clubs in Hull City forward Longman after a solid loan spell at Millwall last season. Longman has entered the final 12 months of his Hull contract and looks likely to depart the MKM Stadium this summer.

Longman impressed once Neil Harris returned to The Den as Millwall manager in February. The 23-year-old recorded three goals and two assists in 35 matches as Millwall secured their Championship status with ease under Harris.

Millwall have made their interest in re-signing Longman public. “Longy was brilliant for me,” Harris told the South London Press. “He showed some excellent attributes to be a really, really positive attacking influence as a Millwall winger.

“I really enjoyed working with him. He’s a brilliant character. He is a player we have stayed in touch with and the door was firmly open for Longy to certainly work with me and the football club in the future.

“Sometimes in football, things can change quickly. Hull have changed their manager not long after the season finished and players then might be in plans or might be out of plans. There’s certainly been a continued relationship between Ryan and myself regarding what the future years might hold.”

The report outlines that Millwall are favourites to land Longman on a permanent basis, but adds that Blues and League One rivals Wrexham are also in the running. Blues have signed two players so far this summer in goalkeepers Ryan Allsop and Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
