Biscuit lover left reeling after finding Jammie Dodger with no jam

The moment an office worker found himself deprived of a much-craved jammy treat was revealed when he opened his pack of Jammie Dodgers - only to discover one was lacking its key ingredient.

Michael Fosker had purchased the tempting package from his local Tesco for his afternoon break. Much to his surprise, however, after returning to work he found one of the biscuits completely devoid of jam, leaving him baffled and disappointed.

The 46-year-old immediately shared his findings on X, creating waves of consternation among social media users. The image he posted showed the orphaned biscuit with its top layer clean and disappointingly void of its customary red jam filling.

He captioned the post: "When you buy some @‌jammiedodgers from @‌Tesco for a lil (sic) treat and there is no jam in one. @‌AldiUK would never."

Michael added: "I was really looking forward to enjoying a classic Jammie Dodger, which I've enjoyed as a sweet treat since I was a kid. But it seems my biscuit decided to play hide and seek with the jam! But I do think I'll get over this...eventually."

Fans of the biscuit range piled in to joke about the missing ingredient in the popular biscuits, PlymouthLive reports. Lydia said: "Well it deffo was a jammy dodger then coz it dodged the jam." [sic]

David joked: "I've seen a few first world problems in my time, but this one, well, takes the biscuit."

Andrew commented: "Without jam, is it just Dodger?" Someone else wrote: "The jam dodged the biscuit."

The major biscuit company behind one of the nation's most loved biscuits has apologised, describing the incident as an 'unfortunate mishap'. The error came when the biscuit's makers Fox's Burton's updated their production line by altering their jam recipe, all the while producing a batch of biscuits – resulting in a Dodger slipping through the net.

To make up for the 'crumby' discovery, Michael will be sent a packet of Jammie Dodgers with the new fruitier jam this time. Russell Smith of Jammie Dodgers said, "We extend our deepest apologies to Michael for any upset that has come from his Jammie-less experience."

"This is a result of an unfortunate mishap on our production line as we have made improvements to our jam recipe, creating a new, tastier jam that now is even fruitier than before. We always strive to give customers the stickiest, jammiest splat in our shortcake sandwiches, because after all, what's a Jammie Dodger without the jam? Just a dodger, and it seems this time, the jam has truly dodger-ed."

The new raspberry range is currently rolling out in stores nationwide.
