Bitdefender Virus Scanner for Mac offers you a nice set of options for scanning various locations on your computer for viruses and other potentially dangerous software.
Pros
Scanning options: With Bitdefender Virus Scanner, you can choose to scan for viruses in several different ways. For instance, you can scan only Critical Locations, complete a Deep Scan, or scan a Custom Location. You can also set the application to automatically update its Malware Signatures before each scan, so you'll know you always have the latest information at your disposal.
Preferences: You have the option of entering locations you want to keep protected from scans and Quarantines, and you can set the software to automatically Quarantine suspect items. Once these items are in Quarantine, you can go through and delete them individually to ensure that you don't accidentally get rid of something useful.
Cons
Progress Bars: In our tests, the Progress Bar for the Deep Scan showed that the scan was complete from the beginning, so there was no way to know how far or how quickly the scan was progressing. The instructions were also somewhat unclear about how to give the app permission to access the entire computer for a Critical Location Scan, and it also wasn't clear whether this process was successful.
