Black Lightning has just revealed that a classic DC Comics villain will be joining the superhero series.

Actor Hosea Chanchez is to play the role of ASA operative Marcus Bishop, who has the ability to trigger powerful vibrations and frequencies and that justifies his given name: Shakedown.

Hosea is best known for his role as the quarterback football player Malik Wright on the comedy show The Game.

In Black Lightning, his character is let down on a career advancement, and instead receives a poor performance feedback which leads to him killing his senior officer.

In exchange for his freedom, the ASA operative agrees to work with Dr Helga Jace (Jennifer Riker).

A violent and impulsive villain, Shakedown could cause major trouble for Black Lightning and his superhero family.

The CW show, which is currently in its second season, recently unveiled the look of Black Lightning's superhero daughter, who became the third member of the Pierce family to fight against crime.

The second season started with a major twist after Jefferson Pierce decided to reveal his true identity in front of Inspector Henderson – and it returned from its midseason break earlier this week in the US.

Black Lightning airs on The CW in the US and Netflix in the UK.
