‘Black Rabbit’ Adds Laura Linney, Ben Semanoff & Justin Kurzel As Directors Of Netflix Limited Series

Laura Linney (Ozark), Ben Semanoff (Ozark) and Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) round out the director lineup for Netflix’s upcoming limited series Black Rabbit, starring and executive produced by Jude Law and Jason Bateman, the streamer announced Thursday. Each is slated to helm two episodes of the 8-episode series, which hails from Bateman and Michael Costigan’s Aggregate Films, Law and Ben Jackson’s Riff Raff Entertainment, Zach Baylin and Kate Susman’s Youngblood Pictures and Automatik Entertainment.

Black Rabbit marks a reunion for Bateman and Linney, who previously worked together on Netflix’s Emmy-winning series Ozark as co-stars, producers and directors, as well as with Semanoff, who also directed. It also reunites Kurzel with Law and Baylin, who star in and wrote, respectively, the upcoming true crime thriller, The Order.

As previously announced, Bateman will direct the first two episodes. Linney will direct episodes 3 and 4; Semanoff episodes 5 and 6 and Kurzel will helm the final two episodes.

Black Rabbit follows the owner of a New York City hotspot (Law) who allows his turbulent brother (Bateman) back in his life, only to realize he’s opened the door to escalating dangers that threaten to bring down everything he’s built.

In addition to Law and Bateman, cast also includes Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Troy Kotsur, Abbey Lee, Chris Coy, Dagmara Dominczyk, Odessa Young and Robin De Jesus, with Amir Malaklou, Don Harvey, Forrest Weber, Francis Benhamou, Gus Birney, John Ales and Steve Witting.

Executive producing are Bateman and Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films; Law and Ben Jackson for Riff Raff Entertainment; Baylin and Susman via Youngblood Pictures; Andrew Hinderaker, who will serve as co-showrunner; Zac Frognowski; Justin Levy and David Bernon and Erica Kay. Black Rabbit is the latest series out of Aggregate’s creative partnership with Netflix.

Semanoff is repped by Echo Lake Entertainment and The Gersh Agency. Linney is repped by CAA, Lighthouse Management & Media and Yorn Levine Barnes et al. Kurzel is repped by HLA Management, CAA and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern.
