Blind and deaf dog rescued from rising tide by lifeboat crew

A blind and deaf dog had to be rescued when it became cut off by the rising tied at the River Exe over the weekend. RNLI Exmouth crews launched a lifeboat at 3.49pm yesterday, Sunday, April 21, after the dog found itself at risk.

The Exmouth RNLI ILB, George Bearman II, launched and were on scene within a few minutes. Crews quickly located and rescued the dog, returning it to its owners.

Posting the rescue to social media, Exmouth RNLI said: "Exmouth RNLI launched on service for the sixth time this week, this time to a stranded dog.

"At 15.49 today, HM Coastguard requested the launch of the Exmouth RNLI lifeboat after receiving a report of a blind and deaf dog that had accidentally found itself cut off by the rising tide in the River Exe.

"The Exmouth RNLI ILB, George Bearman II, launched at 15.49 and were on scene within a few minutes. The stranded dog was quickly secured by our volunteer crew and returned to its grateful owners. A great outcome for our volunteer crews after a challenging week of multiple shouts."

The owner of the rescued dog posted their thanks and appreciation to the crews. They said: "Chris & I would like to thank Exmouth RNLI who saved our Peppa today, we r so very grateful, thank you all so very much for all those involved".
