Making international calls from the UAE will be almost 70 per cent cheaper, as UAE telecom operator Etisalat introduced its new Wasel add-on.

Under the new 'Wasel International Add-on', prepaid customers can make international calls to certain countries at prices equivalent to that of local calls.

Customers who subscribe for the new plan will be charged a mere 0.5 fils per second, just a fraction of the standard international billing rate.

The cheaper rate will be applied to all calls all day, any day - but there is a catch - customers will be charged a set-up fee of AED 1 per call.

The offers will cover six networks: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh & China and Etisalat's networks in Egypt & Sri Lanka.

Customers can dial *141# or SMS "IDD" to 1010 to subscribe.
