Netflix show Blue Eye Samurai has been renewed for season two.

The anime series only made its debut on the streamer last month, and it's now been revealed that more episodes are on the way.

Sharing a trailer on X (formerly Twitter), Netflix wrote: "Revenge does not rest. Blue Eye Samurai will return for Season 2."

The series follows a half-white half-Japanese swordsmaster called Mizu (voiced by Mr & Mrs Smith's Maya Erksine) during Japan's Edo period as she seeks vengeance against four white men who remain in the country illegally after the closure of its borders by the Tokugawa shogunate.

Blue Eye Samurai debuted to huge acclaim, and currently stands at a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 96% audience score.

Digital Spy has also rated it among the best anime series on Netflix, saying it is "well worth a watch regardless of your history with animated shows", with "stunning animation" and a "complex tale of revenge and loss".

Despite being set in Japan, the show is a Franco-American production and has been created by Michael Green and Amber Noizumi.

Alongside Erskine, it boasts an impressive wider voice cast too, including Heroes' Masi Oka, Station 19's Brenda Song, Never Have I Ever's Darren Barnet, Star Trek's George Takei, Ant-Man's Randall Park and Oppenheimer's Kenneth Branagh.

Everything Everywhere All at Once's Stephanie Hsu, The Mandalorian's Ming-Na Wen and Crazy Rich Asians' Harry Shum Jr also appear in recurring roles.

In other Netflix renewal news, the streamer recently confirmed that a second season of hit game show Squid Game: The Challenge is on the way.
