A BMW driver who deliberately ran over another after they had a fight in a "gentleman's club" has been jailed. Corley Cadby, originally from Solihull, left his victim lying 'motionless' in the street after hitting him with his car.

It was heard in court that last September, he was involved in a 'scuffle' with another male at an 'adult entertainment venue' in Digbeth, reports BirminghamLive. They were asked to leave, with Cadby leaving through the entrance and the victim leaving via the fire exit.

Cadby got into his blue BMW that was parked outside. Police said that, after seeing the victim walking up the road, he accelerated, mounted the pavement and hit him.

Cadby then drove off, leaving the man lying motionless in the middle of the road. The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he remained for weeks recovering from his injuries.

Through insurance records and CCTV, police identified Cadby as prime suspect. They launched a wanted appeal for him and he was in a café in Erdington.

On Monday, the 31-year-old from Pike Drive in Solihull pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court and yesterday he was sentenced to seven years and 10 months in prison.

Det Con Emily Williams from the force’s major crime team, said: “When Cadby got into his car, he was determined to seriously hurt his target. Cadby left him lying unconscious in the middle of the road and has failed to show any remorse for his actions to this day.

“The victim continues to recover from his injuries to this day. I hope this sentence gives him some closure knowing that Cadby will be behind bars for a very long time for his actions that day.”
