Boarded-up Nottinghamshire pub will finally reopen after refurbishment programme
A derelict Nottinghamshire pub which has been shut for years could reopen in a few months. The Manvers Arms in Main Road, Radcliffe-on-Trent, closed in December 2019 and has remained closed ever since, with the condition of the Grade-II listed building noticeably declining.
Now pub chain Star Pubs, which owns the boarded-up structure, has confirmed it hopes to finally reopen the venue later this year after a significant refurbishment. "We can confirm that we are planning to start the refurbishment of The Manvers Arms late summer with a view to reopening it for the community in early autumn," a spokesperson said.
"Like residents, we're keen for the pub to reopen as soon as possible." The landlord has submitted plans to "rejuvenate" the 19th-century building by fully redecorating its exterior and renovating the inside of the pub.

The changes to the pub's interior would include a darts board, new seating, and new flooring. Star Pubs explained the proposals would respect the original layout of the building and keep its original features wherever possible.
"Securing the future of the building as a business is crucial to securing the future of the building itself," a planning document, submitted on behalf of the firm, added. The pub was previously set to receive a major makeover in 2021 but this was halted after the new licensee dropped out, meaning plans for the pub to reopen in Autumn of that year never materialised.
Villagers previously shared their frustration at how the once popular pub had been left to become an "eyesore" over the last three years. The planning application is pending consideration by Rushcliffe Borough Council.
