When nationally syndicated country morning radio personality Bobby Bones won season 27 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in November 2018, he had no idea that he would meet his future wife on the set of the very same show less than one year later.

But Bones — who also hosts Breaking Bobby Bones, an unscripted TV series for NatGeo, and Opry, a weekly TV program airing highlights from the Grand Ole Opry stage for Circle Network — attended the taping of the season 28 premiere of DWTS in September 2019 and met Caitlin Parker, who he went on to wed in July 2021.

When he appeared on NatGeo's Running Wild with Bear Grylls in May 2021, Bones told Grylls that he didn’t believe in love until he met Parker.

“I’d only seen it on movies or read about it in books,” he said. “And if you’ve never experienced it, you start to go, ‘Either something’s wrong with me, or everybody’s lying.’ And so I met her and then it was just like a recharge inside of me. And for me, that was really one of the best things that's ever happened to me."

“When I’m with him, there's such a strong sense of peace about us no matter what it is we’re going through that day. I just know he's the one for me,” Parker told PEOPLE after their July 2021 wedding.

From her surprise barn engagement and unexpected graduation party to their star-studded country wedding, here’s everything to know about Caitlin Parker, an Oklahoma native and wife to Bobby Bones.

Parker is from Oklahoma and has two siblings

Parker was born on Feb. 4, 1992. She grew up in Fort Gibson, Okla., with a brother named Tyler and a sister named Grace. She served as the maid of honor in Grace’s June 2021 wedding, which took place one month before her own nuptials.

She met Bones on the set of Dancing with the Stars

Bones met Parker on the Dancing with the Stars set in 2019 when each came separately to watch the season 28 premiere. He was visiting fellow DWTS alum Lauren Alaina, while Parker came to the taping with her best friend, who worked in public relations for ABC.

“We didn’t really hit it off the first time we met. We were just like ‘Hi, what’s up?’ and then we started talking on Instagram like a month later,” he told PeopleNow’s Jeremy Parsons in April 2020.

She has a master’s degree

When Parker received her master’s degree in May 2020, there was no official in-person graduation ceremony due to the pandemic, so Bones set up a celebration at home.

“Since she didn’t get her graduation for getting her master's degree, I threw @caitcparker a surprise graduation,” he shared in an Instagram post. “With a speech. Diploma, music, Gowns, etc. I’m so proud of her!”

Parker announced that Bones proposed to her while they were in the barn in the backyard of their Nashville home with a surprise musical event.

“I get to marry the best man I’ve ever known,” she shared in an Instagram post. “Bobby surprised me with the most amazing proposal in the barn in our back yard which was immediately followed by a live performance of @matkearney singing our song.”

“She said it was at Mat's concert during this song that she knew I was the one for her,” Bones explained in his own post.

Bones used his color-blindness to help trick Parker into the surprise proposal, telling her that he needed her to approve some color options inside the barn. When she followed him there, she instead saw that the barn had been decorated for the engagement.

“I don’t remember all of it fully because there was so much happening. It was sensory overload,”  he revealed on an episode of The Bobby Bones Show. "She was shocked, I was happy about that."

The couple’s July 2021 nuptials were held in their new Nashville backyard in front of guests including country stars Dierks Bentley, Jake Owen, Chuck Wicks and Comedy Central host and radio personality Charlamagne Tha God. Dan + Shay played the couple’s first song, Jesse and the Rippers’ version of The Beach Boys’ "Forever" from Full House, and guests enjoyed a burger pop-up from Sonic Drive In.

“It was such a big gesture for Bobby to want to get a home for us both, that had some of my touches. We got to start fresh. For me, it really wasn't even a question. It was just — if we're getting married in Nashville, we're getting married at the house,” Parker told PEOPLE.

Bones and Parker recruited their dogs for their wedding ceremony. As they walked down the aisle, Stanley the bulldog wore a bow tie, while Eller, a Husky mix, had pearls around her neck. Days before the wedding, Bones joked that Stanley and Eller would need to be on their best behavior to be included in the special day.

“We're rooting for them, but it'll be a game-time decision,” Bones told PEOPLE.

Parker taught Bones how to be “vulnerable”

Parker’s influence on Bones has allowed him to open up personally and enjoy life outside of work, he said after the couple celebrated one year of marriage.

“It’s been awesome to actually have someone that I can learn to be a bit vulnerable with,” Bones told PEOPLE in August.
