Body found in search for missing Edinburgh man who vanished from the capital

Police Scotland has confirmed that a body has been found in the search for missing Edinburgh man Robert Dickson.

Officers say the discovery was made at around 4.35pm on Sunday May 5 in a wooded area near Forth in Lanarkshire. Although formal identification is still to be carried out, the family of Robert have been notified.

Officers had previously issued an appeal for Robert who was reported missing from the Halmyre Street area of the capital at around 12.30pm on Saturday May 4.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland: "Around 4.35pm on Sunday 5 May 2024, the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area near Forth in Lanarkshire.

"Formal identification is still to take place however the family of Robert Dickson, who had been reported missing from Edinburgh, have been informed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
