Tesco Extra in Corstorphine has been forced to remove their chilled and frozen food products after a five-hour power cut in the local area rendered their fridges and freezers unusable.

The store is open as normal today (Monday May 6) but sadly the store has said it has had to withdraw frozen and chilled food items from sale after the power cut affected their storage units.

One local shopper captured the moment that the shelves were being emptied by staff with a team of people spotted bagging up chilled meats and other products.

The chilled section looked to be cordoned off by staff with a large pile of raw meat in the centre of the aisle.

Tesco have said that their Click+Collect services have had to be stopped from the store on Monday and that they have contacted customers that have been impacted.

Those at the store say they are doing everything they can to try to return the store to full availability and offered their apologies to customers.

Power is understood to have been restored at the site.

A Tesco Spokesperson said: “Our Edinburgh Corstophine Extra store is open as normal today following a power cut in the local area overnight. Unfortunately, we have had to withdraw frozen and chilled food from sale after the power cut affected our fridges and freezers.
