Bono spoke to god with Jesse Hughes “for three or four days” after the terrorist attack at The Eagles of Death Metal’s Paris show.

The U2 frontman was also in France with his band when shooting broke out during the rockers’ gig in November at Le Bataclan theatre and was an invaluable source of support while the group were confined to their hotel afterwards.

Jesse, 43, said: “Without a word, Bono sent me a phone five hours after the shooting started, so I could call my mom. I called to say thanks and the next three or four days he called me to check on me and pray with me.”

Bono, above, said terrorists who killed 90 victims at The Eagles Of Death Metal’s Paris show had fired a “direct hit on music”.

Jesse’s band returned to the city last month for what he hailed as the “most important” gig they had ever played.

He added about terrorists who target public shows: “Those motherf****** wanted to snuff out rock and roll and we’re not letting that happen.”

Eight terrorists linked to ISIS claimed the lives of 129 people when they attacked France’s capital with a series of bombings and shootings at the Bataclan and at a football game and restaurants.

Jesse said he slept for 18 hours after his band’s February ‘comeback’ show in Paris, adding it took him until then to realise how the tragedy had affected him.

He added to Q magazine: “I went upstairs and slept 18 hours. The whole three months had been on my shoulders in a way I wasn’t acknowledging and because of the show we played, dude, I was finally able to sleep it off. Now we’re a rock band again.”

The bearded singer apologized earlier this month for suggesting security guards who didn’t show up on the night of the Bataclan bloodbath had been in on the murders, saying: “I haven’t been myself.”
