A GREENOCK wholesaler has handed over a cheque for £500 to Ardgowan Hospice after hosting a Euros-themed fundraiser.

Booker on Cartsburn Street raffled off a Scottish hamper which was put together by staff member Joanne Murray.

Manager Alan Murray, from Glasgow, said he was blown away by the response.

Mr Murray said: “When we asked people what local charity they wanted to raise money for, most said Ardgowan Hospice – and the customers agreed.

“I think a lot of them have had people in there before and it’s a cause close to everybody’s heart.

“It was all down to the kindness and generosity of our customers and colleagues.

“I was amazed at the kind of cash they wanted to throw at me.”
