'My boss wants to give me £500k if he wins lottery – he doesn't know I've scooped £10m'

A lottery winner has revealed her boss is promising her £500,000 should he scoop the jackpot – not realising her family's already bagged millions.

The anonymous woman, who called into the Other People's Lives podcast, confessed that she prefers not to discuss her substantial wealth, which came about after her father won a staggering £10m. She's managed to keep her secret even though her colleagues have been wondering how she affords the luxury Mercedes she parks in the company car park each day.

When she first learned about her father's incredible win, she was immediately filled with anxiety. She explained: "I was just really nervous right away about what other people were going to say to me, what people were going to think if they even found out. I don't like having to explain things that I think are pretty sensitive, and I think finances is like a really sensitive topic."

Despite downplaying her newfound wealth, some old acquaintances did find out about the win and reached out to ask for a share. However, most of her fortune is currently tied up in a trust for her future, and she's content to continue working her regular job.

In an ironic twist, her colleagues have invited her to join their lottery syndicate, completely unaware that she's already a winner. "We have been talking about the Powerball in my office, and I think they were pulling together money to buy tickets," she revealed.

"Everyone's been talking about it for so long my boss is actually obsessed with buying lottery tickets. He buys them every week and he's always talking about what he would do if he won."

"He says 'I'll give you a million dollars for sure, I would get you a new car.' It's a joke but it's so hard sometimes to keep my mouth shut."

Some colleagues at her new job haven't failed to notice the flashy car she already has. She recalled: "I just I started a new job and I pulled up the first day in my car and everyone's was saying 'Oh, whose car is that in the parking lot? ' And 'Who has that nice car? ' And so on, because everyone is driving more modest cars."

She responded to her co-workers' questions about her shiny new Merc by telling them that her dad had bought it for her.
