Bottles and Stones Thrown During Unauthorised Derry Bonfire

People threw bottles and stones during an unauthorised nationalist bonfire near Derry City Walls, in Northern Ireland, on August 15.

The projectiles were exchanged between people on the walls and spectators at the bonfire, the BBC reported.

British, American, Israeli, Ulster and loyalist flags, as well as poppy wreaths, were burned on the bonfire, which was lit to mark the Catholic Feast of the Assumption.

An official, controlled bonfire was organised as part of a community festival on Lecky Road. Credit: Twitter/Leona O’Neill via Storyful
