Police hunt man who punched woman in face at bus stop without saying a word

Police are searching for a man who assaulted a woman in an unprovoked attack while she was waiting for a bus.

The victim was at a bus stop on Beechey Road, Bournemouth, at around 6am on Saturday, 28 May, when a man approached her from behind and punched her in the face.

The man did not say anything to the woman and ran off after the assault, police said.

His victim, a local woman aged in her 30s, suffered bruising and swelling as a result of the attack.

Investigators have now issued CCTV images of a man they want to question.

Police community support investigator Mike Cannings, of Bournemouth police, said: “As part of my investigation, I have obtained CCTV images of a man I would like to speak to and would urge anyone who recognises him to please get in touch.

“Unprovoked violence of this nature will not be tolerated and we will continue to support the victim as our enquiries continue.”
