Boxing TV star broke terrified girlfriend's nose near Glasgow hotel by repeatedly punching her face

A boxing TV star who broke his girlfriend's nose in a horrific hotel assault faces jail.

David Ferguson, 34, turned on the woman in Glasgow city centre on October 30 2023. Ferguson chased her from the Citizen M hotel before he repeatedly punched her on the face.

She suffered a number of injuries including a missing tooth, swelling to her face as well as a broken nose.

Ferguson - nicknamed the Tattoo Assassin - became a TV sensation after he previously starred on Netflix's The Ultimate Beastmaster produced by Sylvester Stallone.

The extreme sports show pitted Ferguson and others up against The Beast - a huge structure filled with crazy strength, balance and climbing challenges.

Ferguson, of Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, also appeared in ITV series SAS: Ultimate Hell Week in 2019.

He pled guilty on Friday (May 31) at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman to her severe injury.

The court heard that the pair had been seeing each other at the time. They had checked into the Citizen M hotel and the day passed initially without incident.

The victim approached an employee around midnight stating: "Men treat me like s***." She went outside for a cigarette but was tailed by Ferguson.

Prosecutor Jenny Reid said: "Ferguson chased her to the fire exit of the Maldron hotel. He assaulted her by repeatedly punching her with a closed right fist multiple times to the face."

The victim attempted to create distance and push him away during the blows but was unsuccessful.

Witnesses contacted the police who then attended the scene.

It was noted that she had suffered "severe facial injuries" and Ferguson was also covered in blood.

Ferguson was arrested while the victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Miss Reid said: "She had a missing tooth, blood from her nose and mouth as well as swelling to her lips, nose and forehead. She was covered in her own blood, was very emotional and upset.

"The hospital confirmed that her nose was broken."

Marisa Borland, defending, told the court that her client is no longer in a relationship.

The lawyer added: "He works as a multi-skilled operative contracted at Faslane. He is currently off work as he suffered a stroke and as a consequence is not able to return."

It was revealed that Ferguson has a previous conviction for assault.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until later this month by Sheriff Andrew McIntyre who granted Ferguson bail.

The sheriff stated that the offence was a "serious matter" and that he should have "regard to your options."
