Boy, 12, and man, 59, rushed to hospital after crash near Manchester Airport

A boy and a man were taken to hospital after a crash near Manchester Airport.

The crash happened on Ringway Road, on the approach to the airport, at around 6.30pm yesterday (May 2). Police said they responded to reports of a crash between a van and a pedestrian.

A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be serious. A 59-year-old man was also taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said.

After the crash, the westbound side of Ringway Road was closed off for several hours as emergency services responded. The road was shut near the airport pub.

Heavy traffic was reported in the area while the closure was in place. Ringway Road was fully reopened again by around 9pm.
