Boy, 5, suffers 'live changing' injuries in horror smash in Salford

A five-year-old boy suffered 'life changing' injuries in a horror smash in Salford. Police are appealing for information following the incident on Southern Street at around 6.45pm on Thursday (June 27).

The child was taken to hospital having suffered serious injuries. The person driving the vehicle stayed at the scene to help police.

No arrests have been made. Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses.

A force statement read: "At 6:45pm yesterday (Thursday 27 June), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Southern Street, Salford, between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

"A five-year-old boy was taken to hospital for further treatment. His injuries are believed to be life changing. The vehicle remained at the scene to assist with enquiries. No arrests have been made at this stage.

"Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision."
