Coastguard rush to rescue sinking boat

HM COASTGUARD has responded to a call of a sinking boat near Studland with assistance from the RNLI.

Alerted at 1.45pm on June 30, Coastguard launched a helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent to help rescue those on a sinking boat near Studland.

RNLI lifeboats from Swanage and a Coastguard Rescue Team assisted the helicopter alongside other boats in the area.

A spokesperson for the Coastguard said: "HM Coastguard is responding to reports of a vessel sinking in the Studland area this afternoon, 30 June.

"Alerted at around 1.45pm, the Coastguard Rescue Team and RNLI lifeboats from Swanage and the Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent were sent to the scene. Vessels in the area have also been asked to assist."
