Boyfriend accused of chasing girlfriend's male visitors off with gun

Feb. 23—A Carl Junction man waived a preliminary hearing Thursday on a felony weapon charge in Jasper County Circuit Court.

Levi J. Woods, 19, was ordered bound over for trial on a count of unlawful use of a weapon and had his initial appearance in a trial division set for March 27. The charge stems from a disturbance May 2 on Prairie Hills Drive in Carl Junction.

A probable-cause affidavit alleges that Woods was upset about two men being in the home of his girlfriend, a juvenile, and went there to confront them. The alleged victims went into a back bedroom and locked the door when they learned he was coming there with a gun, according to the affidavit.

Unable to get into the locked room, the defendant left but later chased the two men with a gun as they were trying to leave, according to the affidavit.
