To All the Boys I've Loved Before has revealed which of the original characters will be returning for the Netflix sequel.

Lana Condor and Noah Centineo will be reprising their roles as Lara Jean and Peter respectively, and they'll be joined by Anna Cathcart, Janel Parrish and John Corbett.

However, the sequel will have a new director in Michael Fimognari, who served as the director of photography on the first film. Susan Johnson, the original's director, will now act as executive producer.

Johnson said in a statement: "Directing To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film.

"Due to the timing of my other projects I won’t be directing the sequel, but as an executive producer, I am looking forward to continuing to share Lara Jean’s story and being part of this franchise."

Jenny Han, writer of the book series the films are based on, added: "I'm so thrilled and thankful we get to keep telling Lara Jean's story. I just know that the audience will fall in love with her all over again."

Netflix described the first movie as one of the "most-viewed original films ever with strong repeat viewing".

The streaming service drew further attention to the film's popularity by sharing that Lara Condor's Instagram following had grown from 0.1 (before the film's release) to 5.5 million.
