Aston Villa have completed the signing of Lewis Dobbin from Everton.

The 21-year-old joins Villa as Tim Iroegbunam heads to Goodison Park for a fee in the region of £9m. Dobbin, who scored his first senior goal for the Blues against Chelsea in December, was prepared to spend the summer hoping to further impress Sean Dyche in order to cement himself in the manager’s first-team plans.

The winger was a regular feature on the bench of Dyche’s matchday squads last season after impressing during pre-season. He made a total of 12 Premier League appearances lat term.

Dobbin’s strike in the 2-0 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park was one of the highlights of Everton's season. Speaking to sister title, the Liverpool Echo at the end of the campaign, he reflected on the goal and said: "I didn’t really know what to do at the time.

"I had dreamt about it but I had never really thought too much into the celebration because I knew if I was to score I wouldn’t know what to do. My just emotions took over. It is my boyhood club.

"I have been here since the age of 11. To have that moment was a bit of relief. It showed the hard work can pay off and hopefully I get many more."

Dobbin spent the 2022/23 season out on loan at Derby County, where he made 43 League One appearances. The attacker scored three goals and made four assists under Paul Warne.
